Who is Carl Cholette
My Story.
My name is Carl Cholette and I'm a Personal Trainer & Nutrition Coach since 2006.
I have been passionate about the world of health and fitness for more than 30 years now.
When I started training I was a skinny 16 year old. I weighed 140 pounds and was 5'9". I wanted so badly to become big and strong.
In the past, I hadn't been very disciplined with the projects I took on. But when I saw a picture of Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1991 Guinness World Records book, I knew that this time I would definitely be able to achieve my goal.
It wasn't easy at first, the people I loved kept telling me it was an impossible dream.
I was told that I was wasting my time and all my energy. I didn't take these comments seriously, I knew I would get there.
Living on a farm an hour from Ottawa there was no gym in my neighborhood. The closest place was 30 minutes away by car.
Not having a driving license, I had to find an original way to train. I went into the barn where we kept some scraps, got a water pipe, some bricks and some metal pipe collars and made a barbell with it.
I used my imagination to find different ways to practice. All of this took a lot of dedication and perseverance.
After 6 months of training with only a barbell and my own bodyweight (no supplements or anabolic agents) my weight was now at 170 pounds.
I felt strong, energized and confident. Before weight training, I felt invisible and at school I was being bullied. Suddenly people started to notice me, liked my company and asked me for advice on how to gain muscle and weight.
When I got my drivers license, I started working out at a gym. With perseverance and after 1 year of training my weight rose to 200 pounds.
At 17, the gym owner insisted that I take part in a powerlifting competition. I decided to go and was able to lift 335 pounds in the bench press which gave me a second place finish.
I had managed to put all my efforts into training but I was not well informed about nutrition. Seeing people around me who were sick, obese and always in pain awakened my conscience.
In addition to being big and strong I wanted to be healthy and in good shape.
That's when I tried different diets:

I 've experimented with almost every type of diets!
- The Raw Vegan diet (no animal products including eggs, cheese, milk, etc)
- The Fruitarian diet (raw fruits only)
- The Raw Animal food diet (beef, bison, fish, eggs and milk in their raw state)
- The Carnivore diet (Basically, I just ate meat and eggs)
- The Low-fat diet of less than 10% of daily calories
- The Low carb diet of less than 10% of daily calories
- The Keto diet (Almost 0 carbs, carbs coming only from low carb veggies, like kale, celery and other green food)
- The High protein diet (40% and up of my daily calories in protein)
- And tried other variations of all of these!
I also experimented with many different alternative therapies, like :
- Water fasting
- Intermittent fasting
- Juice fasting
- Dry Fasting
- Vitamins, minerals & enzymes therapy
- Deep breathing
- Barefoot Walking
- Cold Therapy
- Sun gazing
- Meditation
- Visualization
- brainwave entrainment
Now at 47, as a lifetime natural bodybuilder with over three decades of experience in the fitness industry, I have encountered life's inevitable ups and downs.
From navigating through a divorce to embarking on a challenging farming venture, I have faced my fair share of obstacles.
However, throughout this journey, I have uncovered the six fundamental principles to achieve a sculpted, lean, and healthy physique.
By incorporating these principles into my own life, I have successfully maintained a robust and fit body, coupled with remarkable stamina, energy, and flexibility.
